Life at quantilope: Leadership Development

quantilope’s internal Learning & Development team empowers our employees to grow by learning on the job (learning by doing), near the job (feedback, internal trainings, and cross-functional interactions) and off the job (external trainings). To support a variety of growth opportunities, we’ve established two career tracks: the Individual Contributor track and the People Leads track. Each with its own set of development tactics and plans. 

The Individual Contributor track is designed to foster expertise in a certain role, whereas our People Leads track focuses on becoming an exceptional leader who empowers and manages a team. 

 

Employees on the People Leads track complete a four step leadership program tailored specifically for quantilope. The program ensures that all managers have the same understanding of our values-based leadership principles and that manager expectations are globally aligned.

 

Our goal is that everyone in a leadership role is equipped with the best knowledge, insights, and tools to be successful. Each step of the leadership training builds on the previous ones, allowing leaders to put their newly acquired knowledge and skills into practice.

In the first step, quantilope’s internal Learning and Development team leads a global leadership intro session reviewing expectations and information on internal workflows/tools. Here, our People Leads learn how to bring quantilope’s CODE values to life and receive coaching on strategic leadership, team building responsibilities, and leadership administrative tasks.

Following the intro session, quantilope offers Silver and Gold Leadership training weeks. Each training week is hosted by an external leadership coach, Violeta Nareski, who coaches our new leaders on topics such as value-based leadership, communication, personality types, emotional intelligence, and change management techniques.

 

Topics are taught through the lens of psychological principles and includes workbooks developed together with Violeta, which are personalized for quantilope employees. 

 

 

The focus of my training is to give leaders a safe space to exchange and reflect. In these trainings, participants often realize that they are not alone in their experiences as leaders and that many are being challenged in similar ways. These conversations create immense relief and offers new ways to look at situations and how to deal with them. 

 

In my work with quantilope, I'm always impressed by the ability of their managers to self-reflect. As I see it, this is a huge source of growth for the company and the leaders themselves.

In the fourth step, we are introducing a peer coaching program in which People Leads from different locations and departments connect, exchange, and spar on everyday situations and, when needed, discuss solutions together.
